In our house I designed Big Day Out as a way to start the day for planning new adventures or winding down for the evening bedtime routine. Created for parents and children to enjoy together, the artwork invites calm, creative storytelling. It’s a natural starting point for bedtime conversations, helping little minds slow down, focus, and drift into imagination.
Ray’s magic wind-up car is ready for another adventure… but where is it heading this time? The illustration encourages collaborative storytelling by inviting children to explore the car itself. What special features might it have? Secret compartments, magic levers, unexpected upgrades? Taking time to imagine and design the car together builds listening skills, confidence, and shared creativity — turning the artwork into a story that belongs to you both.
Once the journey begins, the story can gently shift into memory and reflection. Recalling favourite family trips and shared adventures helps create a calm, focused atmosphere. Talking through places you’ve been together — what you saw out of the window, landmarks you passed, moments you loved — is a simple and comforting way to relax, connect, and enjoy those memories before the day comes to an end.
